My wish...

Sean Penn is being criticized, as he should be, for stating that he wishes that some of his critics “die screaming of rectal cancer.” But what do Sean Penn and rectal cancer have in common? Both are stubborn afflictions which affect people around the world. While rectal cancer is blind to its victims, Penn seems to target Americans who exercise their individual rights.

While I don’t wish any form of cancer or illness on Sean Penn, I do have a wish. I wish that he would be arrested and tried for treason. Article III, Section III of the U.S. Constitution states, “Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” Sean Penn has a sickening and un-American bond with Hugo Chavez. When one considers the statements and threats Chavez has made regarding the United States, it becomes clear that he is an enemy of our nation. Chavez has threatened the American military, has claimed that the American government used an “earthquake weapon” to cause Haiti’s devastation, has stated that he is developing nuclear energy, and has joked about using atomic bombs. Meanwhile, Penn often travels to Venezuela to spend time with Chavez. He consistently praises and defends Chavez by claiming that he is a great man and that Americans have become “gullible to the demonizing of foreign states and leaders.” Recently, Penn has even gone as far as to say that journalists should be arrested if they call Chavez a dictator.

When did treason become acceptable and exercising individual rights become intolerable? It happened the moment Americans failed to fight treasonous statements and acts by the likes of Sean Penn. The passivity of Americans has allowed traitors to live within our borders and misuse the very rights they want to take away from us. Penn wants to ban the common citizen from exercising the First Amendments rights. He probably thinks that the First Amendment protects him from treason charges. However, the First Amendment does not give an American citizen the privilege to use anti-American sentiments.

 Why does Sean Penn still consider himself an American? If Penn is so passionate about the Venezuelan leader, why doesn’t he move there? Obviously, Penn has unresolved issues concerning the American people, personal freedom, and the Constitution. After hearing Penn’s repetitive use of un-American jargon, one can correctly assume that he is ashamed to be from the United States of America. Therefore, why does he remain here? Sean Penn continues to consider himself an American because it’s easier to defend a dictator when you’re not living under his rule. Unfortunately, he will continue to claim his American heritage until the true, patriotic and proud Americans fight back.

Journalists, the common American citizens, and victims of rectal cancer should be offended by Sean Penn’s insensitivity, absurdity, and traitorous tactics. The very mention of Sean Penn’s name should cause people across America to become enraged. The rage should become a passion to defend our country from her enemies and supporters. What happened to the Americans’ passion to be patriotic and protective of America?
